La semana pasada el CCAA publicó en su web que ya estaban asignadas las familias cuyos expedientes se hasta el 24 de Octubre 2005. Esta vez han sido pocos los días que han asignado pero han sido muchas familias que recibieron asignación. Solamente de mi agencia fueron asignados 101 niños (97 niñas y 4 niños), y con edades comprendidas entre 6 meses y 5 años.
Según las estadísticas los expedientes en el 2006 bajaron por lo tanto en cuanto se acaben con las asignaciones del 2005 es muy posible que veamos un descenso en la espera, que ahora mismo está en unos 16 meses y subiendo, lo cual si sigue así nosotros no recibiríamos asignación hasta Diciembre 2007 como muy pronto.

Last week the CCAA published on their web site that families registered with them up to and including the 24 October 2005 have recieved referral. This time around only a few days have been referred, but lots of families were assigned. Just looking ate my agency 101 children were referred (97 girls and 4 boys), between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old.
According to the latest statistics in 2006 there were a lot less families registered in China whcich means as soon as the finish referring 2005 it is very possible that we see a speed up in the wait time, which at the moment is at 16 months and rising, so if this continues we wouldn't see a referral until December 2007 at the earliest.

Vela roja y 7 meses - Red candle and 7 months

Hay una creencia china que dice que si 100 familias encienden una vela roja la noche de la luna llena y todos piden el mismo deseo, se concede. Se empezó a hacer el año que hubo un pequeño retraso en las asignaciones. Muchos más de 100 familias se apuntaron a la campaña. Desde entonces se sigue recordando que hay que encender una vela la noche de luna llena, y pedimos eso, que vengan muchas asignaciones. Hoy es luna llena así que tendré mi velita encendida y pediré mi deseo. Hoy es un día especial porque a parte de que ayer fue mi cumpleaños hoy hace 7 meses que está registrado nuestro expediente en China, y como mi número de la suerte es el 3 y hoy es el 3 del 3 igual tengo más suerte que otras veces y aprovecharé para pedir otro deseo.

In China it is believed that if 100 families light a red candle on the night of a full moon and they all wish for the same wish, it comes true. Adoptive parents started doing this the year referrals were a bit slow. More than 100 families followed suit. Since then we remind ourselves to light a red candle on a full moon and ask for lots of referrals. Tonight is a full moon so my little red candle will be lit this evening and my wish asked for. Today is a special day because apart from the fact that yesterday was my birthday, today is the 7th month anniversary of our LID (log in date), and as my lucky number is the number 3 and today being the 3rd of the 3rd maybe i'll have a little bit of extra luck so i'm going to ask for something else too.

Año Nuevo Chino - Chinese New Year

El pasado Domingo 18 de Febrero fue el año nuevo chino por lo que ahora estamos en el año del cerdito. El año del cerdo dorado (como dicen en China) es un año de mucha suerte para bebés nacidos en esta época, y por noticias dadas desde China ha habido un boom de embarazos que darán su fruto este año, algunos deseados y otros no, pero aunque algunos padres se ven en la posición de tener que abandonar sus hijas tiene la fé de que tendrán mucha suerte durante toda la vida sólo por haber nacido bajo esté horóscopo. Last Sunday 18th Februray was Chinese New Year, which means we are now in the year of the Pig. The year of the Golden Pig (as they say in China) is a year which brings luck to babies born under this sign, and news from China says that there has been a pregnancy boom which means that lots more babies will be born this year, wether they are kept by thier biological parents or not. Although many parents may find themselves in the situation in which they have to give up their baby, they have faith that that child will have luck throughout it's life, just for being born under the sign of the Golden Pig. Can't wait to have my Little Miss Piggy with me.

Poco a poco voy aprendiendo cositas sobre los blogs. Muchos habéis dejado comentarios y tengo miedo de que se me pase alguno, así que he abierto un libro de visitas para tener más controlado los mensajes que me dejáis y estar seguro de contestaros a todos. Lo podéis ver en la columna de la derecha al final de la página. Viene en inglés pero con que pongáis vuestro nombre arriba y luego el comentario donde pone "Please enter your comments" es suficiente, al final te pide escribir lo que véis en el cuadrado y lo enviáis.

¿Cuánto nos Queda? - How much longer?

¿Cuánto nos queda? pues es una pregunta muy buena y la respuesta sólo lo sabe Dios, pero el rango que estamos mirando puede variar muchísimo, podríamos recibir la asignación en cualquier fecha entre Noviembre 2007 y Abril 2009, pero la verdad yo creo que como muy tarde lo recibiremos a mediados del 2008, ya se verá. Si os apetece podríais participar en la encuesta que tenemos en la columna de la derecha.

How much longer? Good question and only God knows the answer, the wait involves a very varied timeline, we could recieve a referral at any time between November 2007 and April 2009, but the truth is i think that the latest we would recieve it would be sometime mid 2008, we shall see, but feel free to take a guess on the poll set up on the right hand column.

Las Mariquitas - Ladybirds

Os preguntaréis que porque son tan importantes las mariquitas para los papás adoptantes en China, o a lo mejor no, pues os lo voy a explicar de todas maneras. Las mariquitas suelen aparecer cuando las asignaciones están próximas. Tanto el color rojo como las mariquitas son un buen augurio en China, cada vez que yo veo algo de mariquitas en las tiendas o una mariquita en una planta siempre pienso que es una señal y que toda la adopción nos va a ir bien. En la foto podéis ver una pequeñísima muestra de algunas cosas que tengo ya en mi colección personal, una mesita y su taburete, una muñeca y un librito.

You're probably asking yourself why are ladybirds so important to china adoption parents, or maybe not, well i'm going to explain it to you anyway. Ladybirds are normally sighted around referral time. Both the colour red and ladybirds are good omens in China, everytime i see something to do with ladybirds in the shops or i see one on a flower i always think that it's a sign telling me that our adoption is going to go through without any trouble. In the photo you can see a very small selection of ladybird items i have in my personal collection, a little table and stool, a cuddly doll and a book.

Colcha de los 100 deseos - 100 Good wishes quilt

Para dar la bienvenida y celebrar la llegada de una nueva vida, existe una tradición en el norte de China: la confección de un "Bai Jia Bei" o "Colcha de los 100 Deseos". Se acostumbra a invitar a los amigos y familiares a que contribuyan con un retal de tela acompañado con un deseo para el bebé. Parte del retal se utiliza para confeccionar una colcha para el bebé, y el resto puede formar parte de un álbum que guarde las notas con los deseos. La colcha guarda la suerte, energía y buenos deseos de todos los familiares y amigos que contribuyen con el retal y es heredada de generación en generación. Esta es la colcha de los 100 deseos de Adriana May.

To welcome and celebrate the arrival of a new life, a tradition exists in northern China: the making of a "Bai Jia Bei" or "100 good wishes quilt". It is accustomed to invite friends and family to contribute with a piece of fabric and a wish for the baby. Part of the fabric is used to make the quilt, and the remainder is used to form part of an album together with the wishes. The quilt brings luck, energy and good wishes from all the family and friends that contributed and is inherited from generation to generation. This is Adriana May's 100 wishes quilt.

Su nombre y 6 meses - Her name & 6 months

Hemos decidido llamarla Adriana May y su nombre chino. En principio se iba a llamar Claudia en vez de Adriana, pero a la familia no le gustaba ese nombre y siempre nos andaban encima. Adriana era de los nombres que más nos gustaba así que así se queda (de momento jeje). El nombre de May viene por mi querida madrina, que en paz descanse, se llamaba Patricia May y antes de dejarnos le dije que le pondría su segundo nombre como el segundo nombre a mi hija cuando la tuviera, ella no llegó a saber de la adopción, pero mi hija si sabrá de ella.

Hoy precisamente hacemos 6 meses de "embarazo", no se cuanto nos queda todavía, pero ya podemos decir que estamos bien metiditos en el proceso. Os aclaro que cuando digo 6 meses quiero decir que son 6 meses desde que están nuestros papeles registrados en China.

We have decided to call her Adriana May plus her Chinese name. At first we were going to call her Claudia instead of Adriana, but our family didn't like the name and kept giving us other ones instead. Adriana was one of the names that we liked, so that's how it's staying (for the time being ha ha ha). May comes from my dear godmother, God rest her soul, her name was Patricia May and before leaving us I told her that would give her second name as the second name to my daughter when we had one. She didn't get to know about the adoption, but my daughter will know about her.

Today we are exactly 6 months "pregnant", we don't know how much wait we still have, but we can say that we are well into the process. Let me just expalin that when I say 6 months I mean that it's been 6 months since our dossier was registered in China.

Su Habitación - Her bedroom

La habitación de nuestra futura hija ya está terminada. Diréis que somos muy adelantados, al menos eso dice mi marido, pero la verdad es que cuando llevas tanto tiempo esperando a tener un hijo y no llega y comienzas una adopción, es un paso más cercano a conseguir lo que estás buscando - ser padres.

Aquí os dejo unas fotos de su habitación a ver si os gusta, queda decir que si nos asignasen un niño habría que pintar de nuevo, pero no pasa nada.

Our future daughter's bedroom is already finished. You might say that we were a little bit early in getting it ready, at least that's what my husband say's, but the truth is that when you've been waiting so long to have a child and one doesn't come and you begin an adoption, it's a step closer to what are looking for - to become parents.
Here are some photos of Adriana's bedroom, see if you like it, it just remains to be said that if they assigned us a boy we would only have to paint again, no problem.

¿Habrá nacido ya? - Has she been born yet?

Sinceramente yo creo que todavía no ha nacido, pero estoy convencida de que ya está en la tripita sana y salva, creciendo y madurando, protegida. Espero que nunca tenga que sufrir y se sienta siempre querida. Yo no la conozco y todavía queda mucho para verle la carita, pero la siento en mi corazón y la quiero tanto que ya me siento su madre. Sé que su madre biológica debe estar sufriendo y lo siento mucho de verdad, siempre tendrá mis respetos porque sin ella nosotros no podríamos ser padres. Espero que esa señora sepa que lo que hará en un futuro, hará que se pueda formar una familia que ahora mismo está perdida sin su hija, también pienso que esa señora anónima en ese país tan lejano debe querer muchísimo a su bebé para darle una oportunidad de una mejor vida, entiendo la dificultad de la situación y siempre siempre le estaré agradecida, gracias desde lo más profundo de mi corazón por permitirnos ser padres.

I honestly don't believe that she has been born yet, but i am convinced that she is in a tummy healthy and safe, growing and maturing, protected. I hope that she never has to suffer and always feels loved and wanted. I don't know her and we still have a long wait until we see her face, but i have her in my heart and love her so much that i already feel like her mother. I know that her biological mother must be suffering and i am truly sorry, she will always have my respect because without her we couldn't be parents. I hope that that lady knows that what she will do in the future, will make a family that right now is lost without their daughter, complete. I also think that that anonymous lady in a distant country must love her baby so much that she want's to give her an opportunity of a better life, i understand the difficulty of the situation and i will always always be grateful to her, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to be parents.

Asignaciones y Revisiones - Referrals & reviews

Hoy el CCAA ha actualizado su página y ya sabemos con toda seguridad que han asignado a todas las familias con fecha de registro entre el 28 de Septiembre 2005 y 13 de Octubre 2005 inclusives, y que también han actualizado los meses revisados, actualmente se encuentran revisados todas las familias con fecha de registro anterior al 22 de Marzo 2006 incluido.
Nosotros que tenemos fecha de registro en Agosto no sé cuando nos revisarán, pero lo que si sé es que cada día que pasa es un día menos que tenemos que esperar.

Today the CCAA updated their web site and we now know for certain that they have referrals for all families with registration dates between 28th September 2005 and 13th October 2005 included, they have also updated the months reviewed. At the moment they have reviewed all families registered with them up to 22nd March 2006. Our register date is in August so i don't know when they will review us, but i do know that each day that passes is one day less we have to wait.

Un dicho - A saying

Hay un dicho que dice "las mejores cosas llegan a aquellos que saben esperar", bueno tanto mi marido como yo vamos a poder conseguir el premio a los que esperan y esperan. Nuestro viaje en la adopción a nuestra futura hija (D.M) de momento ha sido eso......una larga espera; pero algún día llegará el momento en que le vamos la carita y con orgullo podamos decir ESTA ES NUESTRA HIJA Y NOSOTROS SOMOS SUS PAPIS.

There is a saying that goes "The best things come to those who wait", well, both my husband and i are going to be able to win the prize for those who wait and wait. Our adoption journey towards our future daughter (fingers crossed) has been just that. ..... a long wait; but some day the day will arrive when we see her face and we'll be able to say with so much pride THIS IS OUR DAUGHTER AND WE ARE HER MUMMY AND DADDY.

Hola somos Manuel y Olga, vivimos en España y estamos en proceso de adopción en China. Poco a poco iré agregando cositas a este blog para que nos acompañéis en este dulce viaje a por nuestra deseada niña. Estamos tramitando la adopción con ACI y nuestro registro en China con el CCAA (China Centre of Adoption Affairs) es el 3 de Agosto 2006. En nuestra carta de presentación al CCAA solicitamos una niña de entre 0 y 8 meses, aunque la edad puede variar y es posible la asignación de un niño.
En este blog me referiré siempre a la adopción de una niña ya que eso es lo que pusimos en nuestra carta.

Hi, we are Manuel and Olga, we live in Spain and are in process of adopting a baby from P. R. China. Bit by bit i'll add things to this blog so that you can join us on this sweet journey to our wished for baby girl. We are doing the adoption through ACI (a leading Chinese adoption agency here in Spain) we were logged in (registered) in China by the CCAA (Centro de Adopciones de China) on 3rd August 2006. In our presentation letter to the CCAA we expressed our wishes of having a daughter between 0 and 8 months of age, although the age can vary and a referral of a baby boy is a possibility.
On this blog i will always refer to the adoption of a baby girl as that is what we wrote in our letter.
